Lung Cancer

Lung cancer

The lung-cancer module models non-small-cell and small-cell lung cancer by stage and treatment state. It owns incidence, progression, treatment, disability and excess-mortality calculations. It runs as a marginal disease process over the demographic population.

Tobacco interventions first change tobacco exposure. The tobacco source module keeps the resulting former-smoker exposure history. The shared risk-factor reconciliation module converts baseline and comparison mean lung-cancer risk into the incidence modifier consumed by the lung-cancer module. This delay is specific to the tobacco-to-lung-cancer relationship; the tobacco module does not own lung-cancer progression.

The current lung-cancer model is an explicit first modular version. Several natural-history and calibration assumptions remain documented limitations rather than settled evidence.
