Data Sources Overview

The NCD models use various data sources organized by model component. Detailed data sources and CSV viewers are available on each model component page:

Demographic Data

• Demographic Model: UN World Population Projections data for births, deaths, and migration

Risk Factor Data

• Physical Inactivity: Disease relative risks and prevalence data
• Unhealthy Diet: Fruits, fiber, legumes, sodium, SSB, and other dietary impacts
• Tobacco: Tobacco-related health impacts
• Alcohol: Alcohol consumption impacts

Disease-Specific Model Data

Disease models (Asthma, COPD, CVD, and Diabetes) use incidence and prevalence rates from the Global Burden of Disease study. Each disease model also incorporates:

• Model-specific assumptions and parameters
• Disability weights from Spectrum
• Treatment effect data (where applicable)
